SERGEJ TIMOFEJEV (Latvia)

SERGEJ TIMOFEJEV was born in Latvia in a family of Russian origin. He writes in Russian but publish his poetry books in Latvia in both languages (Latvian and Russian). Participant of many poetry festivals around the world. His poetry books were published in translation in Romania, Italy, Georgia, Estonia, Poland, Hungary, Turkey. This year his poetry books will be published in Lithuania and Croatia.

He is one of the organizers of the Latvian multimedia poetry project Orbita (1999, www.orbita.lv). He participated in all Orbita main projects which includes publishing, performances, pirate poetry radio activities, text-art installations and exhibitions. He was among the first to invent genre of poetry video in the post-soviet cultural space, first video poetry work on his poem “Orchestra Rehearsal” was made in 1993. He also wrote two children’s books and two librettos for operas by contemporary Latvian composers.
