Founded in 2012, the Bucharest International Poetry Festival (FIPB) is a project that has grown exponentially from one year to the next, becoming today one of the most important genre events in Romania and one of the most watched in Central and Southern Europe -East.
Known and watched with interest by both the writers’ guild and the literature-loving public, the festival annually brings together in Bucharest dozens and hundreds of important names of today’s poetry from all over the world, in a varied sequence of events, within which the writing it is celebrated as art, alongside the tonalities of music, the nuances and pictorial visions or the joy of a theatrical or cinematic performance.
The Bucharest International Poetry Festival is an event founded and organized by the National Museum of Romanian Literature (MNLR), an institution that has become an active and important presence in the Bucharest cultural landscape. Internationally awarded, MNLR has initiated in recent years a series of events of great diversity (from academic symposia to poetry and jazz marathons), which also propose to explore new forms of literary existence, as close as possible to sensitivities current audience.
Coming to its 14th edition in 2024, the Bucharest International Poetry Festival is part of this broad project of reinvention and “staging” of literature as a show, as an experience, as an expression of vitality. (www.mnlr.ro)
