NICOLAE PRELIPCEANU is born on August 10, 1942 in Suceava, Romania, graduated in Letters, University of Cluj, l966. Editor at literary magazines: Tribuna – Cluj, Viața Românească – Bucharest, Luceafărul – Bucharest, jurnalist at the newspaper România liberă – chief of the cultural department and columnist, now chief editor of the Monthly Review Viața Românească. Former media  adviser of the  prime minister. Member of the Writers’ Union in Romania. Five times member of the jury for the Romanian Writers’ Union Book Awards, three times gained the Book Award for Poetry. „Eminescu” Award 2013. „Lucian Blaga” Award, 2023.

Published many books of poems: The Slanting Tower – 1966, Antù -1968, 13 Illusions – 1971, Arheopterix – 1973, Ask the Smoke – 1975, The Night Diary – 1980, A Civilian in the Twentieth Century-1980, Happy by Correspondence – 1982, The Ice Finger – 1984, The Anatomical Weapon – 1985, The Forgetting Machine – 1990, The Wellmortal – 1996, What were you doing in the Saint Bartholomew`s Eve – 1999, A Theater on the other nature – 2006, The lost of the hope, – 2012, Funa máro – 2022 ; some poetry books translated in German and in Hungarian languages, anthologies in: Poland, Rusia, Bulgaria, Jugoslavia, France, USA. He also published four prose books: A Summer of a former Piano-Champion short stories, 1973, The Norwegian Tunnel – novel, 1978; Ten Minutes of Immortality short stories, 1983; The Inner Staircase novel, 1987;  An undercovered novel, short stories – 2018.
