Moni Stănilă (Republic of Moldova)

MONI STĂNILĂ (b. 1978, Republic of Moldova) was born in Tomeşti, Romania. She studied literature and orthodox theology. Since 2010, she live in Chişinău. She published collections of poetry: Postoy Parovoz. Confessions of a Dogmatist (Ninpress / Charmides, 2009), Sagarmatha (Tracus Arte, 2012), The Factory Colony (Cartea Românească, 2015), A World of Fans, which You Shouldn’t Share with Anyone (Charmides, 2017), Ours from ours (Casa de Editură Max Blecher, 2020), Offside (Nemira, 2022). And novels: The Fourth (Tracus Arte, 2013), and a fantasy novel for teenagers, The War of the Enchanters (Polirom), biographical novel Brâncuși how the tortoise learned to fly (Polirom 2019), Scream as much as you can (Polirom, 2020). Fragments of her work was translated in more than ten languages. And her books received various prizes.

Her poetry book Offside was translated in German (Metallische Igel) by Alexandru Bulucz and was included in Lyrik-Empfehlungen 2025. Was also translated in Swedish. Offside received Radio Romania Cultural Prize, Observator cultural Prize and others.

The author received in 2024 the Ion Monoran Prize at Timisoara (first edition).
