Maria Șleahtițchi (Republic of Moldova)
MARIA ȘLEAHTIȚCHI (January 17, 1960, Ștefănești village, Florești, Romanian Autonomous Republic), Romanian writer. A philologist by training (Faculty of Philology of the “Alecu Russo” State Pedagogical Institute in Bălți, class of 1981), she is a doctor of philology (1991) and a doctor habilitated in philology (2018).
A teacher of Romanian language and literature at School No. 1 in Bălți (1981-1984), she is a university professor at the “Alecu Russo” State University in Bălți (since 1984); she has held managerial positions (head of department, dean of the Faculty of Philology, vice-rector for science) at the same institution. She was the director of the Department of Research and Innovation of the State University of Moldova (2012-2016), scientific secretary of the Humanities and Arts Section of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova (2016-2019). Together with Nicolae Leahu and Mircea V. Ciobanu, she founded the literary magazine “Semn” (1995). She was the editor-in-chief of the magazine “Noua Revistă Filologică” (2010-2012). She is currently the general director of the National Museum of Romanian Literature in Chisinau.
Debut in poetry with a week of unwritten poems (1998); other volumes: oleanders call me pink (2010), now (2013), our love is a beautiful lady (2015, 2019) and the fragile anthology (2016). Debut in literary criticism with Jocurile alterității (2002); other volumes: Critical history of Romanian literature in Basarabia (2004, in collaboration), Cerc deschis. Teorii și practici (2020). Co-author of the dramatic essay Quartet pentru o voce și toate cuvintele (2001). Author of a series of anthologies and editions. Her texts have been included in various anthologies published in Romanian and foreign languages. Her book of poems Notre amour este une belle dame (2019) was published in French.
