LIVIA ȘTEFAN (Romania)
LIVIA ȘTEFAN (b.1982, Giurgiu) has published the following poetry volumes: re.volver (Casa de Pariuri Literare, 2012), Lolita32 (Max Blecher, 2016), Thanato Hotel (Max Blecher, 2019, 2022).
She has also collaborated with Oedip Piaf in creating the soundtracks for Lolita32 and Thanato Hotel. In 2020, she edited the anthology of Florin Iaru’s poems titled Ospiciile imaginației/Madhouses of the Imagination (Cartier Publishing House).
She occasionally practices photography and performance art. Some of her most recent performances include: The Theory of the Rest (Does Anyone Have Bubblegum) (2013 and 2019), The Poet is Not Starving (2015), and Post-truths – Artists Rooms (2020), a project by Liliana Basarab featuring multiple artists. Her poems have been translated into Spanish, German, Swedish, Turkish, English, Polish, and Slovenian. She has also translated poetry for Poesis International and Revista Tomis.
Thanato Hotel was nominated for the PEN Romania Awards, Observator Cultural Awards, and the Sofia Nădejde Awards. In 2024, re.volver was published in German by Parasitenpresse (translated by Manuela Klenke). Her poems and short prose are included in various anthologies and journals both in Romania and abroad.
