Grégory Rateau (France)

Grégory RATEAU (b. 1984) is a French poet and writer originally from the suburbs of Paris. He currently lives in Bucharest, where he directs the only French-language media outlet dedicated to Romania, LePetitJournal.com from Bucharest. He is the author of a travel memoir about Romania, Hoinar prin România, published by Polirom, and of a debut novel, Noir de soleil, published by Maurice Nadeau (finalist for the France-Lebanon Prize and the Ulysse Prize for Best Debut Novel in 2020).

He has also published several award-winning poetry collections, recently compiled into an anthology in Romanian (recipient of the Amélie Murat and Renée Vivien Prizes in 2023, finalist for the Robert Ganzo Prize the same year, and winner of the Rimbaud Prize 2024 from the Maison de la Poésie). His poetry appears widely and in multiple languages in journals (such as Arpa, Le Cafard Hérétique, Place de la Sorbonne, Le Journal des poètes, Verso), in art books (Poème Païen at L’œil de la Méduse Publishing House), and in anthologies (including Ces Instants de grâce pour l’éternité, Castor Astral, 2024, and Esprit de résistance, Seghers, 2025). He performs his poetry live at numerous festivals.
