Gabriel Chifu (Romania)

Gabriel CHIFU is a poet and prose writer, executive director of România literară magazine, and secretary general of the Romanian Writers’ Union. He has published 17 volumes of poetry and 12 volumes of prose. Winner of major Romanian literary awards, including the Romanian Writers’ Union Prize (Debut – 1976; Novel – 1997; Poetry – 1998, 2011), the USR National Prize for Lifetime Achievement (2021), the “Olympus Crown of Laurels” (2011), the Mihai Eminescu National Poetry Prize – Opera Omnia (2014), “Writer of the Year” Prize (2017), the “Lucian Blaga” National Poetry Prize (2022), and the “Tudor Arghezi” National Poetry Prize (2024). His poetry and prose have been published in Spain, France, Hungary, Serbia, China, and Albania, and he appears in numerous anthologies of Romanian poetry translated into various languages.
