Elisa Donzelli (Italy)

ELISA DONZELLI (Turin 1979) lives in Rome. She teaches Contemporary Italian Literature at the Scuola Normale Superiore in Pisa and has worked at the University “La Sapienza” in Rome, the University of Roma Tre, and the Luiss University. Among her numerous essay publications are Giorgio Caproni e gli altri. Temi, percorsi e incontri nella poesia europea del Novecento (Marsilio 2016; Moretti Prize for “Literary Criticism”; R. S. Salis Prize for “Literary Essays”). Poems by René Char (Einaudi 2018; Fiumicino Prize for “Poetic Translation”); Pasolini: dialogues, places, figures (Marsilio 2024). 

She is a member of the technical jury of the Strega Poetry Prize, the International Poetry Prize “R. M. Rilke” and is President of the Poesia del Mezzogiorno PrizE. She directs the poetry series of Donzelli Editore and is a translator from French, in particular of the psychoanalyst Julia Kristeva and the poet Valérie Rouzeau. In 2021 she made her debut as a poet with album (edizioni nottetempo) Tirinnanzi Award, “Violani Landi” Award University of Bologna, Mention Camaiore Award, Metauro Award. In 2023, for Stampa 2009, she published uomini blu with a note by Ana Blandiana, and a drawing by Giulia Napoleone. Her poems have been translated into English, French, Portuguese, Brazilian, Romanian, Greek. She is the founder and director of the poetipost68 collective.
