Dimitris Kanellopoulos (Greece)
Dimitris Kanellopoulos (b. 1954, Nemoúta, Heleias, Peloponnese) has lived in Athens since 1958. A graduate of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and Babeș-Bolyai University, he has worked in publishing and private education. He published the poetry collections Stone Fog / Ceață de piatră (1986), Solitudes of the Avarorum / Solitudini Avarorum (1996), Wireless Silence (2005), Good Germinative Bed / Pat germinativ, bun (2010), and The Dam of Memory / Barajul memoriei (2016). Winner at the 2023 Pitești Poetry Festival for translating 92 Romanian Poets of the 20th Century. He translated the complete poetic works of K.P. Cavafy (Școala Ardeleană, 2023, with Eugen Uricaru). Author of the short story collections The Death of the Astritis and Other Tales / Moartea viperei și alte poveștiri (2018, National Prize 2019) and In the Years of the Red Count / În anii Contelui Roșu (2022). Translator of many Romanian authors; his poems have been translated into several languages. Since 2006 he has edited the magazine Oropedio and runs the publishing house of the same name.
