Cassian Maria Spiridon (Romania)
CASSIAN MARIA SPIRIDON was born in Iași, Romania. He founded the new series of Timpul Review as well as Timpul Publishing House, which he has managed since 1995. He also founded Poezia, a poetic-cultural magazine, and was co-founder and editor-in-chief of Caietele de la Durău. Since 1995, he has been the director of Convorbiri Literare in Iași. He is a member of the Writers’ Union of Romania, the Society of Romanian Journalists, the Association of Romanian Journalists, a member of the European PEN Club, and has served as president of the Writers’ Union of Romania, Iași Branch, since 2009.
He made his literary debut in the renowned reviews Amfiteatru and România literară. He has published over 70 volumes of poetry, criticism, and essays, and has been invited to numerous national and international poetry festivals. He has received many awards and distinctions, including the Romanian Academy Award for Poetry, two prizes from the Writers’ Union of Romania, the “Cultural Merit” Order at the rank of Commander, and the title of Honorary Citizen of Iași. His poetry has been translated into more than 20 languages and published in various anthologies and volumes, both in Romania and abroad.
