Bernadete Saidelles (Brazil)

BERNADETE SAIDELLES (b. 1964, in Caçapava do Sul) lives in Porto Alegre, Brazil. She is a member of several literary and cultural academies, including Academia Internacional de Letras, Artes e Ciências – A Palavra do Século 21 (ALPAS 21), Academia Inclusiva de Autores Brazilienses (AIAB), and Núcleo Acadêmico de Letras e Artes de Portugal (NALAP)

She has participated in national and international anthologies and poetry groups, such as Hoburaco (anthology) and Vivapalavra (poetic performances). She publishes in newspapers, magazines, and poetry groups and shares video poems on YouTube. She published the following books: No mar não tem porto seguro, Viajando pelo mundo com Detinha – Destino Veneza, Se acaso perder o Juízo (poetry, 2024), Detinha brinca com folclore brasileiro (children’s, 2024). 

She was awarded, among many others the Jorge Luis Borges Medal, Literarte Group (Buenos Aires, 2018), the First Prize in Poetry at the XXXI International Story and Poetry Contest, Montevideo, Uruguay, (2018), and the 28th Caçapava do Sul Book Fair Trophy (2018). 

Currently, she is the President of the Literary Feminine Academy of Rio Grande do Sul – ALFRS (founded in 1943), where she launched the movement Salve a ALF to restore its headquarters. She is also President of the Academy of Fine Arts of Rio Grande do Sul – ABARS.
