Sylvestre CLANCIER (b. 1946) participated in the avant-garde movements of the 1960s and 70s (TXT, Génération, Textruction). His poetry has been translated into around fifteen languages. Featured in numerous anthologies, he has published around forty books (essays, fiction, poetry) and has compiled anthologies of contemporary world and Francophone poetry. He regularly takes part in major international poetry festivals.

He has published with Henry publishing house: La Mémoire improbable and Corps à corps. More recently, with La rumeur libre: La Source et le Royaume, Par ces voix de fougères qui te sont familières, Un regard infini / Tombeau de G.E. Clancier, and his Œuvres poétiques Volumes I, II, and III. With L’herbe qui tremble publishing house: Le Témoin incertain and Le Discobole du futur.

Sylvestre Clancier is Honorary President of the French PEN Club and currently chairs the Mallarmé Academy and the Maison de Poésie (Emile Blémont Foundation) in Paris.
