LAUS STRANDBY NIELSEN (Denmark)

LAUS STRANDBY NIELSEN was born in 1944 and graduated with a mag.art. in Literary History in 1972. His first poetry collection was published in 1970, and his most recent collection, Idyller, appeared in 2025. A collection of selected poems, For bagved det du ser er der altid et landskab. Udvalgte digte, was published in 2024.

His book Halvvejs gennem uendeligheden (2021) is set to be published in German and Italian translations later this year. His poetry has also been translated into Albanian, Azerbaijani, Bulgarian, English, Icelandic, Macedonian, Romanian, Turkish, and Serbo-Croatian.

In 2004, he retired from his teaching position at the Teachers Training College in Copenhagen and now lives in Faaborg, on the south coast of Fyn. In 2013, he received the Danish Arts Foundation’s lifelong Honorary Grant.
