Gellu Dorian (Romania)

GELLU DORIAN was born October 12, l953, in Botoşani. He is a poet, prose writer, and a playwright. He is a member of The Romanian Writers’ Union, Chief editor of  Hyperion cultural magazine, and President of the “Hyperion-agenda of Botosani” Cultural Foundation. He initiated the “Mihai Eminescu” National Prize for Poetry in 1991, which is now in its 32nd cycle.

He won the “Ion Creangă” National Prize for Prose, Tg. Neamţ, 2005; the Romanian Writers’ Union Prize for Drama (for Comfort Freud), 2011; the “Ronald Gasparic” Romanian-Canadian Prize, 2001; the “Coroana Carpaţilor”/Carpathians’ Crown (Ujgorod, Ukraine), 2003; the Balcanica-Bulgaria Prize, 2009; and the “Poets’ European Spring” Prize, Chişinău, 2014. He attained the rank of Knight of The Cultural Order A in 2004.
