Bogdan O. Popescu (Romania)
BOGDAN O. POPESCU was born on March 8, 1971, in Bucharest. He made his literary debut in 1987 in the Suplimentul Literar-Artistic al Scânteii Tineretului (SLAST) and has since published in numerous literary magazines as well as in Dilema veche.
Published poetry collections include: La revedere, prinţesă / Goodbye, Princess (Vinea, 1995, winner of the “Ion Vinea” Grand Prize for literary debut), Marfă / Goods (collective anthology with Dan Mircea Cipariu, Florin Dumitrescu, Sorin Gherguţ, and Dan Pleșa, Salut, 1996), Poemul de gardă / The Duty Poem (Celsius, 1999), Pisica neagră, pisica moartă / The Black Cat, the Dead Cat (with Traian T. Coşovei, Crater, 2001), Leul de după extravaganţe / The Lion After Extravagances (Cartea Românească, 2002), Maşinăria de uitare / The Forgetting Machine (Naţional, 2004), Poeme în loc de tutun / Poems Instead of Tobacco (Brumar, 2007), Aerobiciclete / Aerobicycles (Brumar, 2010, winner of the Bucharest Writers’ Association Poetry Prize, 2011), Marfă reîncărcată / Reloaded Goods (collective anthology, Brumar, 2011), Cartea dragostei / The Book of Love (Humanitas, 2014), Cartea războiului / The Book of War (Vellant, 2022).
In 2011, he published the short story collection Viață de aruncat / A Life to Throw Away (Polirom). He has been a member of the Romanian Writers’ Union since 2002.
