Giorgi Balakhashvili (Georgia)

Giorgi Balakhashvili (b. 1987, in Sukhumi, Abkhazia), is a Georgian poet based in Tbilisi. In 1993, due to the war in Abkhazia, he and his family were forced to leave their home and have lived in Tbilisi ever since. He studied at Sukhumi State University and, following graduation, worked in various positions before joining TBC Insurance in 2018, where he currently works as an insurance agent.

Giorgi began writing poetry at the age of 17. His work is predominantly abstract and socially engaged, often exploring themes such as nature, urban life, people, love, and the realities of contemporary society. He has published two poetry collections, the first in 2015 and the second in 2024.
