VASILE POENARU

VASILE POENARU (b. 1955, Miloșești, Ialomița) is a writer and a member of the Writers’ Union of Romania. He has published seven volumes of poems, the poetry anthology Jungla marină 1969–1999 (Marine Jungle 1969–1999) published in 1999 at Coresi Publishing House, Bucharest, as well as several books of stories, poems and short plays for children. He is the author of several dictionaries and other educational work.

Along with the American poet Tom Carlson, he translated into English a selection of Nichita Stănescuʼs poetry: Bas-Relief with Heroes was published in 1988 by Memphis University Press. He taught English at the University of Bucharest and the Children’s Club 2, Bucharest. As an editor, he coordinates the eLiteratura Project and supervises the publishing houses ePublishers, eLiteratura, eDidactica, Coresi Publishing House, www.coresi.net, Online School, Petre Ghelmez Publishing House.
