SIMONA SIGARTĂU (ROMANIA)

SIMONA SIGARTĂU (b. 1993, Gheorgheni) is a poet and a teacher of Romanian language and literature in Sibiu. She holds a PhD in Philology, with a thesis on power relations and peripheral communities in Romanian prose of the 2000s (2021). Her work has appeared in literary magazines including Poesis internațional, Matca literară, Familia, Revista de povestiri, and Tomis.

She made her literary debut in 2024 with the poetry collection Singuri sub râsetele familiilor perfecte, which received the “Mihai Eminescu” National Poetry Award – Opus Primum, the Bac-Fest Poetry Debut Award, and the ARCCA Award for Poetry Debut.

Active on the spoken word and slam poetry scene, she won the Romanian National Slam Poetry Championship in 2024 and represented Romania at the European Slam Poetry Championship in Slovakia.
