
SIMONA MĂICĂNESCU
Simona Măicănescu graduated from the Institute of Theater and Cinematography ”I. L. Caragiale” in 1983, in the class of Professor Octavian Cotescu. He was part of the troupe of the ”The Attic” Theater, from the ”Grigore Preoteasa” Students’ Cultural House, then he played at the Little Theater, the Piatra Neamţ Youth Theater, the ”I. L. Caragiale” from Bucharest, Lucia Sturdza Bulandra Theatre. After starring in ”Pair of Scales”, Simona Măicănescu left for France in 1993, collaborated with Théâtre de Vidy, Théatre des Amandiers Nanterre, Athénée Théâtre Louis-Jouvet, and across the ocean, in New York, with La MaMa Experimental Theater Club. He was part of the cast of numerous films, alongside important names of world cinema. The actress periodically returns to Romania for various theatrical projects. To give just two examples of performances with which he conquered the public, we mention ”The Fever”, directed by Lars Norén, based on the text written by the American actor Wallace Show, and ”Today I would rather not have met myself”, based on Herta Muller’s novel, made with the support of teacher Sanda Manu, Lars Norén and Cătălin Naum.
