Robert Șerban (b. 1970, Romania) is a writer, journalist, producer and moderator of the television show “Pepper on Tongue” (TVR Timişoara and TVR 3), president of the International Festival of Literature at Timișoara (FILTM). His volume Of Course I’m Exaggerating (poetry, 1994) was awarded the Romanian Writers’ Union prize for debut. It was followed by Odyssex (poetry, 1996), Pepper on Tongue (interviews, 1999, the prize of the Romanian Writers’ Union, Timişoara branch), On the Trail of the Great River / Auf den Spuren des grossen Stroms (coauthor, poetry and prose, 2002), Timişoara in Three Friends (coauthor, poetry, 2003), The Pink Book of Communism (coauthor, memoirs, 2004), The Fifth Wheel (interviews, 2004; the prize of the Romanian Writers’ Union, Timişoara), Feathertales / Annusdazumal (prose, 2005), Home Cinema (poetry, 2006, the prize of “Observator Cultural” magazine for poetry, the prize of the Romanian Writers’ Union, Timişoara), The Eye with Eaves (press articles, 2007), A Carriage Loaded with Nothing / Ein Karren beladen mit nichts (coauthor, poetry, 2008), The Parafine Death (poetry, 2010, the prize of “Luceafărul de dimineaţă” magazine, the prize of the Romanian Writers’ Union, Timişoara), Below the Line (poetry, 2015, a book that was widely awarded in Romania), Hiding in Transparency (poetry, with Pavel Veres – digital art, 2017), Grandma’s Four Wings (2018), Camouflage Techniques (poetry, 2018). He was granted a scholarship by Soros Foundation (1995) and several literary residencies in Austria and Switzerland, between 2005 and 2013. His poems have been translated into several languages (Polish, Czech, French, English, German, Spanish, Italian, Dutch, Norwegian, Swedish, Arabic, Ukrainian, Macedonian, Hebrew, etc.) and published in numerous anthologies and literary publications in Romania and abroad.
