NINA VASILE (ROMANIA)

NINA VASILE (b. 1969) is a poet, essayist, and philosophy teacher, and has been a member of the Romanian Writers’ Union since 1998. She holds a degree in Philosophy, a Master’s degree in Literary Theory, and a PhD in Aesthetics from the University of Bucharest (2021), with a dissertation entitled The Existential Aesthetics of B. Fondane.

She has published the poetry collections Albert locuitorul (1997), Distanța din miezul nopții (1997), and Poeme de putere sau totul se transformă la cea mai mică atenție (2011). In 2017, Eikon Publishing House released her essay Calea poeziei, which explores and develops the vision behind the interdisciplinary and experimental creative workshop she coordinated in Romania for more than a decade.

Between 2008 and 2016, she lived in Spain, where she was actively involved in both Spanish cultural life and the Romanian cultural community. A significant part of her work is devoted to the “Poezie în viață” (Poetry in Life) Creative Workshop, held over the years at the Bucharest Metropolitan Library and currently at the National Museum of Romanian Literature. The workshop has become a space for experimentation and creative development, attended over the years by authors who later established themselves as notable voices in contemporary Romanian poetry.
