ELENA BĂLĂȘANU

ELENA BĂLĂȘANU (b. 1982, Caracal). She is a graduate of the Faculty of Letters within the University of Craiova. She was awarded many literary prizes, among which the Special Award for an Oltenia-born Author at the National   Competition “Traian Demetrescu”, Craiova, 2019 and the Great Prize at the National Poetry Competition “Panait Cerna”, Tulcea, 2018. She published poetry in the following literary magazines: Mozaicul, Scrisul Românesc (Romanian Writing), Prăvălia culturală (The culture shop), Ateneu (Atheneum), Spații culturale (Cultural spaces), Ex Ponto, Bucovina Literară (Literary Bukovina), Ramuri, as well as online, on the following literary websites O mie de semne (One thousand signs), Noise Poetry and 7 ARTE (7 ARTS). She has also given public lectures at the Blecher Institut. She made her editorial debut with the poetry collection Singurătatea nu ne face mai buni/Loneliness does not make us better (Aius Publishing House, Craiova, 2020). The volume was longlisted for the “Poetry Book of the Year” award, Beginners section, awarded by the Romanian Association of Cultural Creators and Artists, and received the “Debut Award” from the Romanian Writers Union, Craiova Branch.
