DIMITRIS KANELLOPOULOS
DIMITRIS KANELLOPOULOS (was born in 1954 in the municipality of Nemoúta, Heleias County, Peloponnese). In 1958, the family moved to Athens. He is a graduate of the Faculty of History-Archaeology of the Kapodistrian University of Athens and of the Faculty of History-Philosophy in Cluj-Napoca.
He has published the poetry collections Stone Fog, Heridanos Publishing House, 1986, Solitudinii Avarorum (Scythian Deserts), Kolonos Publishing House, 1996, Wireless Silence Kolonos Publishing House, 2005, Bed of Seed Good, Oropedio Publishing House, 2010, and Memory Dam, Oropedio Publishing House, 2016.
In June 2023 he is awarded in Piteşti, Romania, at the FIL STREET FESTIVAL OF POETRY, Street Literature, for the translation of the Romanian Language and publication of ANTOLOGY: 95 Ρomanian Poets of the 20th Century. In September of the same year, he participated in the International Poetry Festival in Cluj, where the book OPERA POETICA by Konstantinos P. Cavafis was presented, in his own translation in collaboration with the prose writer and poet Eugene Uricaru, at the Ardeleana School Publishing House. For the first time the entire poetic work of the great Greek poet Konstantinos P. Cavafis has been translated.
In 2018 he published his first collection of short stories The death of astritis (Male of viper), and other stories, (Kihli Publishing House) with which he won the National Prize for Short Stories-2019. In 2022 he published his second collection of short stories In the years of the Red Count (Kastaniotis Publishing House).
In 1984 he published in Romania an Anthology of Greek poetry with the title 42 contemporary Greek poets (Dacia Publishing House, translators: Alexandru Căprariu, Vasile Igna, Aurel Rău).
His poems have been translated into Albanian, English, Romanian, French.
