DENISA DURAN (b. 1980) graduated the Faculty of Letters at the University of Bucharest and an interdisciplinary masterʼs program at the Center of Excellence in Image Studies. She worked as a journalist and cultural manager and now she translates fiction and works as an editor at the ICR Publishing House of the Romanian Cultural Institute. She is the author of five poetry volumes: Fluffy and Mechanical (2003, Debut Prize); Omul de unică folosință / Disposable People (2009, published in Ireland, Galway Publishing House); I Am Still Young (2012, translated and published in Macedonia); Wrapped in Its Own Body (2016, translated and published in Bulgaria and Spain). She signed her first three books under the pen name Denisa Mirena Pișcu. Selections of her poems have been translated and published in sixteen languages. She is also the author of two performance shows: “Bucharest Nowadays is Beautiful, isn’t it?” (in collaboration with the Austrian composer Bruno Pisek) and “I Tug at the Earth with my Hands” (in collaboration with the Polish photographer Sabina Guzik and with other foreign artists), presented so far in several European countries.
