CHIARA MULAS

CHIARA MULAS (b. 1972, Gavoi, Sardinia) is a plastic artist, graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna, Italy. A video art and an action art creator, Chiara Mulas puts into action the places and myths of a Mediterranean philosophical and social geography. Through stunning poetic acts, she employs the myths and symbols necessary for our time.
Her artistic research has led her to explore the rituals of the world, starting with her native island, Sardinia. Of Mediterranean essence, Chiara Mulasʼ identity art addresses the universe in her native village, Barbagia.  At a crossroad between cinema-vérité and fiction, her videos evoke an oneiric dimension, starting from ancestral myths revised in a contemporary practice.
Cinematographer, director, plastic artist, performer, nothing escapes her artistic commitment.Chiara Mulas has crossed the events and tragedies of our society and invented an important language and a poetic dimension in the field of performance through a new and personal way of interacting with contemporary art.The performances, the video installations, the vivid paintings in which they are inserted, all of these make her a unique and essential artist of our time.
