Andrei MOCUȚA

Andrei MOCUȚA (born January 12, 1985, in Arad) is a teacher of French and English. He holds a Ph.D. in Philology with the thesis: Portrait of the Artist in Absentia. J.D. Salinger: A Monograph. He has published four books of poetry and six of prose, the latest being the novel Transfer, published by Humanitas. He coordinated an anthology of contemporary Romanian poetry titled Echoes from the Dark Forest: Escapes into Twin Peaks, published by Tracus Arte. He was twice nominated for the “Young Prose Writer of the Year” award at the “Young Writers Gala” (Radio Romania Cultural) and shortlisted for the “Zone 9” poetry award. He has received several awards from the Arad branch of the Writers’ Union: in 2006, 2010, 2012, 2016, and 2020. He won the “Audience Award” at the Balcic Poetry Tournament, organized by the Writers’ Union of Romania. He translated the poetry anthology A Postcard from Chinatown by Richard Brautigan (Paralela 45, 2018). He has participated to the Salon du Livre in Paris, as well as other poetry tournaments and literary projects in Barcelona, Padua, Trieste, Podgorica, and Balcic. He is featured in the French anthology coordinated and translated by Radu Bata, Le blues roumain, vol. 3, Editions Unicité, 2022, and in other anthologies in Romanian and Hungarian (Cuvinte de legătură/ Kötőszavak); as well as in the book of interviews The Poets’ Raid (Junimea, 2023), by Robert Șerban. He is a member of the Writers’ Union of Romania and a fan of Borussia Dortmund.
