ALINA ALDEA (ROMANIA)

ALINA ALDEA (b. 1974) graduated from the Bucharest University of Art, Department of Sculpture. In recent years, her primary focus on site-specific installations and drawing has led her to a sustained exploration of the evolution of and intersections between art and science. The paradigm of contemporary humanity surrounded by technology gives rise to new systems of thought and to new languages of creation and communication.

Developing an artistic practice distinguished by a personal and unique approach to site-specific installation in Romania, Alina Aldea has participated in major international art events, including the Mdina Contemporary Art Biennale, Malta (2020); the Arte Laguna Prize, Venice (2018); the Florence Biennale (2017); and the International Experimental Art Festival in Venice (2016). She received the 2023 Sculpture Award from UAP – the Union of Visual Artists of Romania. Her works are part of the permanent collection of MNAC – the National Museum of Contemporary Art in Bucharest, as well as major public and private collections in Romania and abroad. Since 2019, Alina Aldea has been represented by Anaid Art Gallery, Bucharest/Paris/Baden-Baden.

In 2025, Alina Aldea made her literary debut with the poetry collection The Woman Who Stole Time (Femeia care a furat timp), published by Vinea. The volume received the “Tudor Arghezi” Award – Opera Prima and a Special Mention at the 2025 “George Coșbuc” Colloquia, in the published volumes category. It was also selected, as part of the “Mihai Eminescu” National Poetry Prize – Opus Primum, for participation in the National Debut Festival held at the Ipotești Memorial. The collection was also included in Agenția de Carte’s selection of the best poetry books of 2025.
